Choosing the right color of shade fabric

When shopping for blinds or shades, the important thing to keep in mind is shade fabric and whether to select a light or dark color.  There are reasons to choose either and they are focused mainly around heat gain, glare and brightness or the amount of light you want to filter into a room or office.  Shade fabric comes in a variety of colors, weaves, patterns and densities to meet your needs.

When shopping for shade fabric, keep these small tips in mind.  Light colors reflect better resulting in lower head gain.  Keep in mind that lighter colors will also cause higher surface brightness and this can impact your computer screen or work surface.  Light colors are also harder to see through because of surface brightness and higher reflection.

Now if you like a dark shade fabric, you will be able to see through it better.  Darker shades also tend to absorb both heat and light making them less energy efficient.  This being said, they also transmit less light which helps reduce surface brightness and glare on your computer screen.  Both light and dark fabrics are popular, it all depends what functionality you are looking for.
